In MP3 format at 128Kbps (roughly CD quality), songs are stored at slightly under 1MB per minute. 2GB is 2,048MB (although some players will equate it to only 2,000MB). Therefore you'll get over 2,048 minutes of music on the player. If your average song is 4 minutes long, that equates to a little over 512 songs.

As a general rule of thumb, you can assume that you'll get about 250 songs per gigabyte on an MP3 player (in MP3 format).

    Yes.

I explained 2 days ago just why you'll get just over 250 songs in 1GB. Apple saying it doesn't make it any "more true". :p

By the way, that figure of 250 is for MP3 files encoded at 128Kbps. If, like me, you use 192Kbps, the files will be larger in size and you'll clearly fit less on your player (Closer to 180 or so songs per gigabyte).
