I pressed enter by mistake :) maybe a mob can fix it :P
I was trying to arrange it alphabetically, then I replaced Liverpool by mistake, realised I had an extra team, so lashed in Blackburn to keep Lemlin happy :)

Just don't vote yet, until a mod changes it, then vote for Liverpool.
For some reason I can't delete the thread to re-do it, has this option been taken out?

Once there's a post other than your own original, you can't delete a thread.

I don't support any English Premiership team. Why should I? I am not from Manchester or Newcastle or Liverpool etc. etc. So there is absolutely no reason why I should support any team. That is not to say that I don't have an interest and watch matches. I do. In fact I was at the Everton v Aston Villa match last weekend. I am not a fan of either team, but I happened to be going to Liverpool for the weekend and a friend who was with us, organised tickets.

Most people who support one team or another, when asked why, will tell you that "they are a good team." That is not a reason to support a team. If a team is your team you support them no matter what. At some stage of their life, most people "choose" a team to support, usually one that are going well at the time. We had loads of people flocking to support Manchester United in the 1990s, as we had Liverpool fans in the 1980s. During the summer of 1995 there were Blackburn t-shirts and supporters everywhere. Where are they now? The majority of people who support a team will give you one excuse or another as to why they do, like "my father did" or "my friends did" and a host of other reasons.

For the vast majority of people in Ireland who support one Premiership team or another - note that it is nearly all Premiership teams that they follow, bar the odd relegated former Premiership teams - there is no more reason for them to follow them than there is for them to follow a team like Stockport County or Dagenham and Redbridge. If you ask them why they don't support one of those teams, they will look at you and ask "Who are they?" or say "They are useless", which proves my point. They will become very defensive when you put it to them that their support is not a true support and give you all sorts of reasons as to why it is. We'll probably get a few posts doing exactly that in response to this post. So the majority of support for teams here are built on a false or very dodgy foundations.

Come the World Cup you'll see kids walking around in Argentinian shirts and Italian shirts etc. Like many of the Premiership team supporters, most of them would never have been at a match in which the team they will suddenly be supporting have played. Like you won't see many Stockport County and Dagenham and Redbridge team shirts around, you won't see many people walking around in Liechenstein or Malta team shirts either. There is no less a reason to support either of those two clubs or national sides than there is for them to support the club and country they may be sporting the colours of.

A true supporter does not choose their team or pick one on the basis of how good they are. As I said, I don't support a team, but I can still watch, go to and enjoy matches, even more so than a supporter at times. I'll be avidly watching matches in the World Cup, but I won't be supporting any team, as Ireland did not qualify. So if you do support a team, sit down and ask the question and then honestly answer it, as to why you support the team you do and not Stockport County or Liechenstein! Then, having done that, sit down and enjoy watching the Premiership and the World Cup and appreciate the game that soccer is. You may actually find that you can enjoy it even more.

Why do I support Liverpool? I don't actually know.. All I remember is watching them against Everton in an FA Cup final abou 19 years ago and saying I am going for the red team (I was 6). That red team was Liverpool..

Since then I have been absolutely in love with the club.. I used to get my ould fella to record the midweek football highlights (wednesday night I think) and get up early the next morning so I could watch Liverpool play before I went to school..

I remember slightly loosing interest during the Souness era but I think that was to do with just hating what he was doing to the club.. Once Evans took over I was in love with the club again and have been ever since.

If you ask anyone who knows me they will tell you I will defend the club against any criticism at all and watch every single match.

Whether that makes me a real supporter in someone's eyes or not I couldnt give a ****ing toss..

I don't support any EPL team as I do not go to see them although if I was to pick one EPL team that I prefer, it would to be Man Utd.

    liverpool for me too.

we had to pick teams when we were about six or seven in the playground and me and my friends all picked liverpool, early eighties it was. then when the sticker books came out we'd all race to fill liverpool first, god those were the days. stuck with them ever since, through the ups and downs
