I've decided to sell my Bob Dylan w/ Flaming Lips tickets to go to this instead. Anyone been before? What's it like? Good atmosphere? Well run?

    It's a German festival - of course it's well run :p
My main recommendation would be to try get there a little early - we did the whole arrive late and have to be told by everyone you can't pitch here (and then it started raining :().
We spent some time in the local bars and everyone was really friendly - old lads at the bar in small village pub :). They practiced their bad English, we practiced bad German.
Campsite was quite friendly, had a few drinks with our neighbours in several directions.
Lineup is generally quite good, haven't looked at this years but I presume it's more of the same.

To get there we flew Ryanair to Luebeck (then get a train to Hamburg and a train to Schlesel or whatever it's called). Potentially it could be easier to get a flight to Hanover (through expedia). Both those options would be through London Stansted.
    Have fun :)

Yeah - was there last year, it was superb. Flew AerLingus to Hamburg and got a direct train from there to Scheesl, which runs hourly and takes about 40 mins. All very efficient, well run and easy.

    As for the festival: http://blogs.boards.ie/civiliantarget/2005/06/18/bestweekendever/

That said, the lineup's not so great this year.

Yeah, I was considering going to this one, but the lineup this year is weak. 2005 looked fantastic.

I wouulda lovin to be at the last one but I seen Rammstein in London that year so I'm happy! This year is cool, totally different scene :D

Sounds good by all accounts and €79, should be a great start to the summer!

Heya, just wondering how much your train tickets cost? Trying to work out the cheapest option here with regards which airport to fly to!

Hamburg. €20 return. Aer Lingus is your friend. Great festival BTW.

Aer Lingus flights to Bremen are super expensive though. And RyanAir to Hamburg is dirt cheap but then how do I get from there to the festival without paying E60 for a train?! Kinda defeats the purpose of cheap flights when the train ends up costing more!

It's not even remotely near a train, as far as I remember from when I checked it out, and it's closer to the Danish border than Hamburg!

HLX also fly to Hamburg, might be cheaper. IIRC, Dortmund is also a possibility

I'm flyin to Hamburg a few days before it cos I'm staying with friends, I've no idea on gettin to the festival yet, leave that part to them :P
