Its known that the show is recorded on the North Coast of Oahu, Hawaii, but where do you think the survivors are supposed to be, in the story of the show? From what the pilot told the survivors before being eaten by whatever that thing was, they were en route to Fiji but over 1000 miles off course when they crashed. So where do you think they are?

Was there any reference to how long they had been flying for before the crash..if you knew that then you could guesstimate based on flight speed from destination.

Didn't someone say that they'd been flying for 2 hours in the wrong direction? Either way, the time doesn't matter that much. They were 1000 miles off course (which would work out to 2 hours because planes go at roughtly 500mph). There no telling what direction they went in though.

From having season 1 on dvd, i'm pretty sure the pilot said that they where 6hrs into the flight when they lost communication, at which point they turned and headed for fiji, ground control did not know they did this. As they were flying to fiji on an unkown route they hit an air pocket and we all saw what heppened next!

They were 1000 miles off the Sydney-L.A route when the crash happened. Ground Control would have seen them disappear when the were on route, so they would be looking 1000 miles away from where they actually crashed.

I think that's the whole premise of the show, they don't know where they are, hence the survivors being 'Lost'..

It's filmed on a small island that makes up the islands of Hawaii.

That would be terrible... If it were Inis Mór or Inis Oirr, there'd be hope, but Inis Meáin...that's unknown territory!!! And it's 190 occupants could be the others!!!
Matthew Fox, the guy who plays Jack, appeared on Letterman in the States a little over a month ago and told audiences that the show is recorded about an hour north of Honolulu on Oahu.

But as for where the producers want us to believe it's set... who knows? There's how many thousand islands in the South Pacific...
I was thinking about the numbers and their significance last week, anybody think that 4 8 15/16 23 42 might be geographical coordinates for some sort of Pacific Bermuda Triangle???

Interestign theory, but no matter what way you put those numbers togerherm it walways winds up somewhere in the Atlantic.

The numbers, curiously enough, add up to 108 when put togerher (and whatever happened to that counter down the shaft anyway...?

Just because I don't want to start a new thread, here's Matt Fox on the Daily show.

Nothing too revealing or anything, but he just confirms the show is going somewhere. And it's funny.
