Rather than bump a number of threads on the topic I thought it might be an idea to start afresh. Now that the card has been around for a few months what do people think.

Does the Fatal1ty actually make any difference in gaming and is it worth the extra over the XtremeMusic.

I'm thinking of upgrading, currently using the onboard from my Lanparty NF2 Ultra B ( I know it's old but it does the trick)

A mate of mine has one and says it's quality.

I don't think I could ever spend that much money on that much sound quality tbh, so I wouldn't plump for it myself. Maybe I have crappy ears. Maybe I'm scabby. :)

It'll definitely be better than your onboard but it's up to yourself really.

You'll need some good speakers to get the best out of it though.

Cheers, I heard the X-Fi demo at the Toys for Boys show and it sounded great through normal head phones. I'm really curious if it actually does increase the frame rate in games or is it all just talk.

I've noticed improved framerates in games just from using an audigy 2 zs instead of my crap realtek onboard sound.

It takes a lot of load of the CPU, and some people get 10+ FPS more than they did before.......

I got a Bog Standard Soundblaster Audigy a few days ago, and it sounds amazing compared to Onboard Audio, It was top of the line in its prime, and i got it in the FS section for €15;)

Audio is Audio, and if it sounded good a few years ago, it souns great now;)

So, Soundblasters are great, but i dont think they are €200 great:D

Cheers for the advice I think I'll go for the XtremeMusic rather than the Fatal1ty.
