    Hey,

Will be in Paris for two nights in May. Never been so im unsure where to stay. Two lads so far but more to follow, so we are looking for somewhere close to the best nightlife. We will try and see some attractions but they are not a prority. Cheap is also a must!

Found many budget hotels on hostelworld.com but unsure of the locations.

So in summary, could someone recommend me a cheap, safe and fun area to stay in Paris.

    Thanks

    WMJ

The metro is Paris is so good, proximity shouldn't be a problem. Avoid the red light districts, Pigalle and Clichy (had experiences where over enthsuaistic sales people grabbed my arm and tried to physially pull me into their sex shops) in the North/Central as locataions to stay. Good nightlife all over the place.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Thanks for the replies.

Heard the Metro is good but really all we are worried about is that we are not staying in a dangerous area.I have heard good and bad things about the Latin Quarter.

I was there for a few days and spent a lot of time walking round the city (quite often at night too). The only area I found remotely dodgy was around Garre du Nord. Where I was staying was around Bastile - there seemed to be a decent nightlife around there but in general I found all of the city centre safe - especially in comparison to Dublin. Even the area around Garre du Nord I didn't particularly see anything untoward, was just a feeling I had myself.

Yeah a few people have recommended Bastille.

Most of the really bad parts of Paris are well into the suburbs. Inside the centre is mostly ok, though I wouldn't go wadering too close to the periphique after dark.

A friend recommended a student area, I think it was St Germain? Anyone been?
