Does any one know if one land line can support 2 routes?

i.e a one socket for one router down stairs and one socket for router upstairs?

Hang on, sorry, no. Each router will be trying to get a public IP, but your ISP will only privide the first one to sync with one. You'll have to connect one to the other, which defeats the point of having two.

    Sorry, had misread the question.

I came to this forum seeking an answer this exact question.

I spoke to an employee of the phone company and he gave me an extension socket with two ports on it. One is marked "PC" and the other "phone".
He knows that there is one router already plugged into the master socket.

It seems that a special type of extension socket will allow you use a second router. Problem is that he promised to call back with the part he didn't have with him (which was the back of the socket) but it or he never appeared.

Still seeking closure on this same problem.

    regards
