I used my own preprogrammed Palcom DSL4 to setup a Motor for someone a few days ago. During install the motor started behaving oddly, though I could get 8W, 30W and 28E, so I was happy with alignment.

At one stage the motor headed in wrong direction!

I suggested maybe the motor might be dodgy.

However when I came home the Sat box did the SAME things with my motor!

A box reset erased all the channels but did not fix it.

Then I tried SW update OTA. Oddly though no update was found, the box then worked properly. Now it is controlling motor fine. Just a gazillion transponders and satellites to put back in !

    All very odd.

My satellite receiver started doing the same thing (also the DSL4)
I was just about to order a new motor when I seen this post.

I will try OTA update later, when I get home.
thanks for sharing the info Watty, you may have saved me a few quid.
Then again maybe my motor is busted

Yes just start the update and let it fail due to nothing new (or if you never did it, it will update). Or cancel by pressing power button.

I have rescanned about 20 satellite positions and all are perfect, but before it would only work on one or two, or not at all.

If the motor responds at all, in any fashion it is likely the DSL4 SW is confused.

Switch off GOTOX mode and try moving motor east and west with the Diseqc menu. If the motor will do this it is most definately the USALS / GOTOX SW in the receiver that is confused.
