Hey, it looks like my psu has failed ( fan has stopped on it and the pc keeps turning off now )

Anyways Komplett said they will replace it with an INwin 430w but ive decided im going to get a second one anyways around 500w.

I will be getting it off komplett http://www.komplett.ie/k/kl.asp?bn=10159

Can anyone recommend one as im not that sure on PSUs. Im thinking about this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=315953

But as I said im not sure. Also needs to be compatible with my EPox mobo https://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=309209

What sort of compatibility issues do you need to look at when it comes to PSUs?. Thanks.

as far as compatibility I think basically should be ATX(if you case is ATX) and and that the main mobo power connector(forgot it's name damn, someone please remind me) fits, there are 2 types, but most of the times PSUs come with an adapter, I think that's basically it.

I think your choice is good, this is pretty good too...

    Dont get a Thermaltake PSU:mad:

That should be in the sticky section, they are rebranded Generic crappy PSUs.

Get a good PSU from a reputable Manafacturer, like OCZ, Enermax, Tagan.........

If it was my money, I would get:

    or

++ Anything from Tagan good quality equipment.

Edit: Corrected, yup I meant Tagan thx joe123.

You dont need a 580W unnless you are running lots of hard drives and dual graphics cards the 430W will do just fine

    Do you mean Tagan?

    This PSU

Has a recommendation on the site and has modular cables and 580w. Would this be the best choice as I dont mind paying a small bit more as long as its good quality? ( I dont want no overvolt or undervolt craic going on...)

Ok ive read around for reviews and Ive narrowed it down to these three. Is there a big advantage to the modular cables btw? If you had to pick one which would you go for? Any thoughts again would be great thanks :)

At the moment im not sure maybe between the OCZ and Seasonic but then again the tagan has a 580w???

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=315953 OCZ 520w

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=314763 Seasonic 500w

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=311653 Tagan 580w

Will you ever be using the SLI capabilities of that Mobo? If so then you might consider a PSU with 2 PCI-E connectors.

The OCZ and the Seasonic have 1xPCI-E connector, the Tagan however has 2xPCI-E connectors. Agreeably it is alot of power, but if you're going to run 2 7-series gfx cards in SLI, you'd want all the breathing room you can get. Plus 2 dedicated PCI-E connectors will guarantee a greater amount of stability, and seeing as its cheaper than the seasonic, the Tagan 580w should be your choice.

Well for now I wasnt considering it. ( I have oblivion sitting collecting dust at the moment and am looking forward to playing it and this pc is used for gaming and will continued to be used for it :P ) but maybe in the future id consider sli or I may well end up just getting a bigger and better graphics card when the time would come but I wouldnt be thinking about it for the next year at LEAST.

I read one review that I could find on the Tagan 580w and they werent overly impressed...

BTW is there any issue regarding stability with modular cables or are they just as good as regular PSUs?

I got a Tagan XEye recently from Komplett and its bloddy brilliant! PSU is THE most underreated core piece of equipment in a computer and having a good sturdy reliable one is critical hence why spending that bit more is recommended!

    hmmm I still dont know...

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=315953 OCZ 520w

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=314763 Seasonic 500w

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=311653 Tagan 580w

Are there any disadvantages towards the modular cables and if not would i not be better to eliminate the seasonic from the equation??

At the moment im thinking the OCZ and Seasonic 2nd but the Tagans review on pc malyasia or whatever the site is has put me off it...

PLEASE any suggestions would be great

I got a Tagan 580 watt, does great. The one I got isn't modular though, so lots of cables everywhere.

Heard Seasonics are the most efficient PSU out there, haven't had any experience with them. Got the OCZ myself, its sweet and comes adjustable rails which is handy for overclocking. Also they have a great support and RMA service.

Tagan are brilliant quality PSUs, every review site speaks highly of them, and they are recomended by DFI Street.

I would recommend the Enermax liberty, but Komplett dont have them, 80% effiency and 2 20amp rails even on the 400watt model;)

Do you need 580watts of power right now? No.

But you might in the future, as beefier graphics cards come out, also the Ageia Physics processer is on the way and God only knows how much power that thing will draw through its molex connector.

    The tagan gets my Vote.

P.s Modular cables kick ass:D There is no instability and makes cable managment a sinch;)
