I'm looking to book some flights online (reliably!) from Dublin to New York.

Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions beyond www.aerlingus.com and if you had any personal experience with them.

    Cheers.

Try www.continental.com and www.delta.com (I'm not sure if their DUB - NYC route has started yet) - search for Continental and Delta on this forum for some previous threads with opinions.

Aer Lingus is probably your best best as its generally cheaper than the US airlines.

Continental will fly 757s to New York this Summer ; a much smaller and more cramped aircraft than Aer Lingus' and Delta's planes.

Delta make you stop in Shannon I think on the way to JFK which is an added hassle. Also there's a lot of talk now in the USA now about them going into liquidation (they're already in bankruptcy protection) in the near future in which case your ticket will be worthless.

Also Aer Lingus let you change your date once booked, the others usually don't. Any major airline website will be totally reliable ; once you've paid you'll get your ticket.

Get a flight that doesn't involve a stopover in Shannon, you have to get off the plane after flying from Dublin to go through immigration and then get back on the plane again, it and extra 2 hours (roughly) of you life that you'll never get back.

I've flow Aer Lingus trans-atlantic a few times and they have yet to let me down which is more than I can say for Delta (although that was a US internal flight they messed up many times).

    Try www.goforless.ie or www.ebookers.ie
I find that both of these websites come up with good prices.

Find your flights on those websites and then go directly to the airlines own website to book the same flights. Usuallly you'll save about €20-30 by cutting out the online-middle-man.

There was a huge price difference between the above and Aer Lingus in January. Flight wasn't direct though - connection at Heathrow.

The US Immigration in Dublin is a great thing - it saves loads of hassle and waiting at the destination and in my experience the staff are very friendly in stark comparison to the ones in the US.

I tend to go to www.ebookers.ie / www.bookaholiday.ie - find who the airline is and go directly to their site! It's usually cheaper :)

I've used Aer Lingus a lot in the past, price fluctuates quite often, but have never had any problems.
