DVD Burning Question

    Hey all,

I have a film in .avi format which I want to burn onto a dvd instead of watching it on the pc.

I tried using nero vision to make the dvd....it said there isn't enough space on the dvd for the file....the file is 750mb, and a dvd holds 4.7gigs!! Nero then automatically reduced the quality so it could fit onto a dvd. Then it wanted to convert the file (into what i don't know) and that would take 3 hours.

Is there any easy way of burning the 750 mb avi file onto a dvd instead of reducing quality and converting etc etc...

Short answer for the lazy layman: Yes. Purchase a XviD/DivX capable DVD player.

    Hey....

As far as I know my dvd player supports divx!!

What way do I burn it...ie, as a data cd, etc??

are you sure you were trying to burn a dvd and not a cd?

there is a tab in nero for this at the top.

if your player supports divx and the file itself is a divx file then you need to burn a data disc and this should work in your player.

You need to use a program like WinAvi to convert the avi file to vob files readable by a normal dvd player, and then burn them with Nero... or else buy a DivX dvd player...

Nero or any decent burning software will do the job. Read the supplied manual.
