Tabbed Browsing in Firefox

I'm just wondering if it is just me or what.

The issue I am seeing is that if I click a link in one tabbed pane in Firefox 1.5 on XP(say something on boards, because it's a slow website, because of traffic, etc) and straight away click another pane to view another page, firefox hangs until the first panes page has loaded.

This is not happening on Firefox on SUSE, or in IE7.

    Has anyone else seen this?

That happens to me too. Very annoying sometimes.

This also happens to me. AFAIK there is no way around this. I am not sure why this isn't happening in suse, very beculiar.

It might be an extension that is doing it, something that might have to do with tabs, such as Tab Mix Plus

Here is all the extensions I have installed

OK this doesn't happen to me so it looks like its an extension problem.

If I click on a link on a slow site I can happily flick through other tabs while the original page is loading. In fact thats one of the best things about tabbed browsing - no more waiting around.

I am running up to date Windows XP SP2
    Firefox 1.5.0.1
    Theme: Noia 2 extreme 2.992
    Adblock V.5
    Adblock Filterset G
    All in one Sidebar 0.6.4

    Noscript 1.1.3.9
    Reveal 1.0.4
    Scrapbook 0.18.5
    Tabbrowser Preferences 1.2.8.8

for the record, i don't have the problem either... I've no extensions on at the moment at all as it happens (new install!)

I suspect the fasterfox extension - As far as I know it tries to prefetch every link on a page - all that prefetching is probably overloading your connection somewhere along the line.

Question that is off-topic, do you know the way you can go to about:config and change you settings to be able to get maximum load on the page and whatnot, is this the as what Fasterfox does

    *me puts on detective cap*
Everyone post the list of extensions that they have installed (this is really handy if you have the extension MR Tech Local Install* ). Then after you post the list of extensions, state whether you do or do not find that tabs do not load until the one in front of it loads. If we find a common pattern, we'll find out why this is happening

*To do this in MR Tech go to Tools -> My Config -> Copy - BBCode (Clipboard), and then paste here, and all the links and everything will be sorted for you :)

    Hmmm, that is interesting.

Maybe it is Adblock, checking every tab in turn, to make sure that they do not have blacklisted items

But there is no way I am giving up Adblock, its just too good

Nope - not adblock - I have adblock (see list above) and I dont have a problem.

I have Firefox 1.5.0.1, which is the newest version

Some people did not upgrade from 1.5.0.0, Mad Mike, what version do you have???

Not having this problem with version 1.5.0.1, though glad I started reading this as it made me remember to go look up extensions again and hence find the excellent gspace extension! :)
