    Hi

I want to set up an internet account. I have no credit card either so i have to open it in one of the shops.

There is no paddy power shops in the town am in and as i work for boylesports i dont think that they would allow this either.

however there is a sean graham shop in the town and i was wondering if anyone has any pros or cons especially in relation to internet betting.

As regards internet betting,I'd open an a/c with Betfair or Betdaq as the odds are much better than all the above plus you can lay a horse you don't fancy......good luck:)

Not sure about Sean Grahan, but as fr wishy washy said, betfair almost always have better odds. (around 20% higher)

They let you deposit funds by various methods such as cheque, bank transfer, paypal etc.

If you do open a betfair account, try to lodge money using a bank transfer, as paypal, credit cards etc. charge a fair amount (a couple of %) to do it.

You could also try the 3V pre-pard credit cards to open an account. Before opening any account be sure to check out the various sign up offers, Betfair for instance offer €30 free after you've made €30 worth of bets. Make sure you have the promotional code before you sign up.

As for Internet Betting, it's biggest Pro and the biggest Con are actually the same thing, Convenience. You'll never have to leave home to make a bet which is great for most people but for those who can get addicted it's a big danger.

Another advantage is that you can keep track of exactly how much you are betting and your profit/loss, you can even break it down by sport. When you are just going into the bookies and spending cash it's hard to keep track of your betting.

the 3v cards dont work on the betting sites!! best way to do it is to transfer the money on your 3v card to a paypal account and then just transfer it to betfair account....simple!!

But...................if you are using paypal, when you go to withdraw money to your paypal account, you will be charged commision on that, as paypal charge when you accept money.

You can open a betfair account without depositing money. When you do that:

If you go into your account details, they give you a number to do a bank transfer. If you go into a bank, and pay the money into the account, as far as I know, (I have not done this yet, so check it out) there is no charge.
When you want to withdraw, you can get a cheque sent to your house at no charge (check this first, as I have not done it)

They are usually pretty prompt at replying to e-mails, and they have a freephone number. Sorry if I'm starting to sound like an advertisement here, but it is well worth ringing/e-mailing them, as the value on betfair is much better than any bookie account.
