Final table of the Prima 5K last night. Seven players left with 190 for 7th and 1600 for 1st. Blinds 3000/6000. I am 4th in chips with about 37K. Smallest chips stack has about 19K and chip leader has about 62K, so its fairly even.

I am on the small blind with J9s, two limpers including big stack and I complete ( I know this is a terrible hand to play but I was getting about 5/1 to call). Anyway flop comes 983 (no flush draw). I check, BB checks, first limper checks and big stack bets 10K. Now about four occasions before this I reraised his continuation bets and I think he was getting sick of it. His notes read 'top pair any kicker can't be beat !!......... calls with big slick all the way regardless of flop'

    Whats your play here ?

You could call but you've ridiculously few chips left. I don't think you can fold. You haven't enough chips to raise without pushing.

    Push. <-- (I write that a lot.)

Checking gave the big stack the opportunity to try and buy the pot. With a bit of luck that is what is happening. He will probably call you (based on your notes) but you're likely ahead even so.

    Push now.

Push now. I probably don't push preflop. I would probably open push the flop but this works out even better for you.

I pushed and he had 99 for the set. drawing to a runner runner. I think my notes made me push it and I was a bit disappointed afterwards but it seems it was ok. tks.

btw no doubt but he would have called a preflop push
