    Hi,

First post so forgive me if this is off topic (maybe this is in a thread elsewhere but couldn't find it).

I'm thinking of heading down to the Fitz tonight to the "scalps" game. Would be my first time. Is it 8pm to register (is the only way to register by turning up)? How many players will there be (roughly), and is there a possibility one may be turned away (if there are too many people)?

    yours as dead money :p

    F.

Hi frankie and welcome to poker forum!

just for future reference any tournament queries has its own subforum and a mod will prob move it to there shortly!

The fitz is like cheers.. no one would be turned away and everyone knows your name :D

It says 8pm reg but you be better off arriving at half 8 roughly about start time as nothing worse than hanging around waiting for the game - most people just turn up at half 8. Not sure of numbers last few weeks but last time i was there about 6 tables were full.

    Frankie,

Haven't been there in a while but 8.30 should be fine and you wont be turned away. As far as I know they normally get 60-80 runners depending on other tournaments.

Any boardsies on the 1/2 tables in the Fitz last night? I heard my brother came out with quite a bit and the table were upset to see him leave at about 6 in the morning. How well did he play? :)

That's a classic. It describes the place perfectly. Full of the dumb and dysfunctional, the smart and streetwise. But most of all it's welcoming.

Frankie there's free tea/coffee and sandwichs and penguin bars at the break. But if you order a drink during play as you sit give a tip. Dont be like some of the frequent order placers who dont tip.

The penguin bars are some of the best you will find this side of the Mississippi River.

Wow, penguin bars and everything, it just gets more and more exciting :D

Thanx for the heads up rounders123 on the tipping during play if ordering a drink. This is gonna sound silly, but how much do I tip (i.e. presumably not from my chip stack *lol*) :)

I was €680 in the hole and came back to finish up €85 so for 10 hours poker i earned slighlty better than working the Mcdonalds GraveYard shift. If your bro was the guy hitting every flop with every two cards he finished up HUGE and i mean HUGE!!!think he needed a few racks for his chips.Ciaran was his name i think??? Sound guy

1 euro. Or you could forget all that and bring in your own bottle of water:) .

I dont really order myself. I was deflated when the Mayfair suddenly closed
just as the staff learned what drink to bring me without any verbal request. I didnt want to start over again in the fitz so i just stick to poker there!.

The water idea doesn't sound bad. I have a terrible tendency of playing poker in a non-sober state (shall we say). I'll keep the drinkin' for when my games up (I give myself till 9.30pm) :p

You misunderstand me. When i say drink i mean 'refreshment'. Theres no alcohol allowed in the fitz*.

Fitz* Unless if its off your breath

Ok, whoops, didn't realise. I've only been in one casino in dublin before (the merrion I think) for my work xmas party (what a great xmas party, eh!), and they served alcohol.

Really doesn't bother me. I'm there for the cards, nothing else.

i chopped this three ways tonight for my first live win, if i can call it a win.

got a nice double up when i flopped two pair and i reriased all-in and got called.

cracked aces with tens with 14 left, then got my kings cracked by tens the next level.

with 4 left i rivered a straight when i got reraised by the shortstack, my a5s vs kjo (2 face cards anyway)

i am not good at reports

What table were u at ?

I left at 12, guy with shades had a massive stack on my table, Dublin accent..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

was at table 1 with 3 tables left, was at the table with the guy and the glasses for one orbit then got moved.

could be wrong but he didnt make it to the final table, certainly the glasses didnt make it across. one guy knocked two out on your table just before the ft was formed and came over with a nice stack. the girl on you table who had a huge stack with 20 or so left went out in 7th i think.

I chopped it with you sikes, I was the guy in seat 6.

I think the guy with the shades busted around 15th. when i got moved to that table he had a shortstack so I dont know what happened to him but he busted shortly after I arrived.

I had a shortstack at the time and mananged to stay alive, the (almost) triple up when I took 10th and 11th out to break the bubble set me up nicely for the final table.

Did you really have TPTK against Michael that time you came over the top or were you just winding him up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭sikes

yeah i had TPTK. didnt really know what to make of his limp utg. he said he had an eight so was a good fold!

The girl from your table, she had a massive chip stack with about 18 to go. What happened to it? was she involed in the pig pot before the ft?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,443 ✭✭✭califano

Well done sikesy old boy. Makes up a little for your recent Irish open sat near miss.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 331 ✭✭sendic

    does she post here?

she had a decent stack when i sat down but her blinds had been robbed a few times and she limp/folded pre flop a few times. then, when i was shortstacked she raised my BB. i had JQo and felt she wasnt particularly strong so i called to see a flop. flop came low and all spades. she pushed and i called (i had the Qs). she had TsTx and i hit the flush on the river. we joined up for the final table about 5 mins later.

in fairness i should either have pushed preflop of folded, i didnt have the stack to be dicking around with JQo. i got lucky there and with another hand earlier in the night (AK vs KJ where i spiked a J) for double up. other than that i was quite pleased with my play last night.
