playing in college today and lost a hand worh 15k when blinds were 200/400, raise re raise all in siuation, i turn over KK he turns over QQ, and the Q hits on the turn and i get up and walk away... i'm just wondering how people deal with beats at the table, i know the aboveisnt the worst beat ever and i did just get up, say good luck and walk away, but in a big buy in game, if someone runner runners you, how do you handle it? cos you cant say 'well played' its near impossible to wish them luck cos they have all yours...

You realise that a guy with a 30% chance of winning a hand against you will win that hand exactly 30% of the time. You should also be happy that you are getting yourself into positions that people are calling you when they are way behind.
I'm still working on trying to acquire the skill where I can turn a profit in the long run by putting my chips in when statistically behind. It's easily the most difficult skill in poker to master.

It hurts, but I think in a live situation you have to be a gentleman, smile and laugh and wish 'good luck'. Then go somewhere private and let any anger etc spill out. Getting stroppy at the table, accusing someone of being a muppet or showing any signs of being a bad loser - none of that is helpful and will just reduce others' opinion of you. q.v. Playing online, its perfectly ok to hurl things around the room, and shout obscenities at the pc (in fact it should be compulsory).

i think it was Dev who pointed out - imagine YOU had gone all-in with QQ against KK three times in a row - if you didn't win one of them THAT would be a bad beat. You were just unlucky. Having said that i handle it by ignoring poker and reading those "ppp is rigged" threads!

Having gotten stacked in my first hand of today and lost about 1.5k for about 40 minutes of correct play I played play money video poker machines, pai gow, Caribbean stud poker, blackjack and roulette (most for the 1st time) for about 2 hours, having watched the -EV take effect in each game and the credits go slowly down I remembered why I play poker and was happy to take my chances with the luck factor in it again :)
You may also remember why you play poker instead of doing X if X = buggering a hedgehog upside down (a 4:30 am point if ever there was one!)

tbh, getting beaten by someone that calls a raise just because the cards are suited is what I would get angry over. I wouldn't be at all angry getting beaten by a pair of queens. At the end of the day, you'd have probably done what your opponent did in the same situation so its easy to wish him good look.

I generally take the cards off the dealer and throw them in his face. Then I flip the table over and storm out.

Half an hour later I come back for a cash game.

LOL :) Though I'd love to see someone flip a table over, it would rock. Particularly if I was short stack and 'forgot' how many chips I had.

Fatboydim nearly did it in Vienna.

Gotta take it on the chin, if he lost and was walking out the door chipless you'd be smiling at him instead so whats good for the goose is good for the gander. Everyone gets lucky now and again, even the good players!!

If your'e at home online, wreck the house, throw the wife out for distracting ya and get hammered - those 0.05/0.10 games can get frustrating :):D:p

I think the best way of dealing with it is to smile and carry on.

The hardest trick is not to tilt afterwards, as that is where you will loose the most. MUCH HARDER SAID THEN DONE THOUGH

The Irish hedgehog population has plummeted by up to half over the course of a decade, a survey suggests.
