My old laptop got broken last week and I can't access anything that was on it, I was told that if I install Itunes on the new one I will lose everything from my ipod when I connect it? Is this true and is there anything I can do to save my music? I have over 800 songs on it that I really don't want to have to find again, any help appreciated...

When you connect the IPOD it will ask you if you want to format it. Just say no.

I think then you turn on manul updates. Think it's under EDIT > PREFERENCES.

Means you'll have to dismount the IPOD manually but the songs currently on it will remain.

Don't have mine with me today so can't check exactly.
