OK i want to scan a range of computers from ip address 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.255

I though you could just do it like this:
    nmap -O 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.255

but it doesnt work and any documentation just seesm to be confusing me,any help would be great.thanks
