xbox360 media center with external hard drive

    hi there guys,
    hoping someone can help,
    have a 360 and hoping to set it up in sitting room with wireless connection to my pc upstairs,
    i have a 250gig external hdd bought and ready for my pc and i was hoping to use that solely for storing music and movies for my 360,
    will this work ok ?
    will the 360 be able to access the files on my external drive ?
    also, do i need to have the full media center os on my pc or can i use the plug in from microsoft ?

    external would work fine, but if you dont have windows media center on that pc you cant stream movies. the plug in (windows media connect) only allows music and pictures to be streamed to the 360.
