I will accept that this may belong in the Work Forum but I wanted to get the sarcastic/humerous slant on it so AH it is :D

My present office is ok, only the traffic outside is so bleedin loud that people I'm talking to on the phone often ask me am I on my mobile  And, the aircon has two settings - off and bleedin freezin!

And, my direct line used to be the number for a recruitment agency, so I still get loadsa calls from people asking why they haven't heard back about their job applications :(

But apart from that, hows your place?

I remember one working in a pub where you hands would be black after two minutes on your shift cos of the dirt of the place, and there were rats too

I sit at a desk, next to a window, i look out and i see trees and one other building, the toilet is approx 30 feet away from my desk, as is the kitchen/drinks machine, so i guess i can't complain. I wouldn't mind a more comfortable chair though.

In an office. The work conditions would be ok if I did any work. Well apart from having no heat during the cold snap, the water being undrinkable and the fact my computer keeps crashing. Am now saving every ten min or so for fear of another black monday(it crashed just before lunch, had nothing saved:( ) Oh and lots of dirt ugly people work here, excluding me of course:D

Used to work in a factory, machine beside the bay doors which were open most of the time.Soooo cold. Strange feeling to be rained/snowed on while in doors. Had to use earplugs as the noise was deafening and one of the machines gave my mate such an electric shock it put him in hospital.
    So this place is ok

On a normal day its okay, but this morning one of the wheels fell of my chair, and when i reached down to fix it, I walloped my head off the underneath of the desk causing a cup of cold tea to fall on the floor and smash. So today, my working conditions suck.

It's definitely a miracle we still have a job! What with all the slagging, laughing, boardsin' and scratching we do! :p

Yea, I'm very happy where I work, only downside is that I have a 40mile journey each way every day.

    You should see the roads!!!

guess it has another good point though:- if I did the 100mph as suggested, my car would be in the air so much that I'd save quite a few miles on the clock too (for resale purposes!!:D )

Well there's van drivers comin in and out of the place constantly, so I'm absolutely freezing the whole time! And the boss is a pr*ck. That's about it.

    hmmm.. where to start?

My office is flithy for one... I really, really need a sexy french maid (possibly a monkey dressed as a sexy french maid) to come in and clean up after me.

My radiator doesn't work and leaks... and the drip, drip, drip sound sometimes drives me nuts. It gets freezing in the winter... but yesterday with a little bit of sunshine it was unbearably warm and stuffy.

It's pretty small too... at about 1.5 metres by 1.5 metres..

My view out the window is of a training project for 'at risk' youths..

The mens toilets are way off down the other end of the building and there are just two cubicals and no urinals. Oh... and no lights in the toilets either... I have to bring a torch with me if I'm working late and fancy a bit of a read while I'm in there.

But... I am one of the few people in the organisation who has his own office... so it is still a bit of a status thing for me.

    .

there's something not quite right about sitting on the jax in the dark in work reading by torchlight.

Oh... you're probably wondering if I claim back cash for battery expenses?

actually i was wondering if company paid magazines in the toilet result in you having to pay benefit in kind tax. Easy to sort that problem, hide a gameboy somewhere.
    beep, beep bloop.
Boss "Whats that noise from the toilet?"
Me "erm, its me, sorry. I swallowed a mobile phone last night by accident, and I'm having trouble getting it out"
    bibbidy bibbidy booop.......

My office is way too open plan. Sometimes I think people open their meeting calendars and my desk is listed as the location. Most of the time I get lost in coding, but when I get stuck on something, I'm all too aware that there are people standing around me nattering away. And of course, privacy is a no-no.

Mine is a job, definitely not a career. Let's say it is in the Automotive Industry where the turnover of staff is quite extraordinary and hence the newbies are put under pressure to front up without any on the job training, they ALWAYS get sick after one month exactly and for college Grads get a pittance. Of course, it is an American company whose core values are Integrity and Ethical behaviour which is total bull and it saddens me to see people compromising themselves for so little. I do my own lowly serf-job for 8.50 per hour as I am recovering from years of acute depression. So I have one question, is there any career that anyone can recommend to me that I can do while being an honest person and making some positive difference in the world, more money would be good too!

meh, pretty good i guess. Nice building, good canteen...very bright, open plan style.

My only complaint is I sit too near my 2 bosses so doing nothing is noticed & they can hear me on the phone (so if i make a mistake conducting business, they're both in ear shot & makes personal calls very brief and very uninformative)

I dunno...im indifferent to my job really...stepping stone tbh.

Long hours and hard work but the end pay off is usually worth it overall.
