I have a spare sky box and get BBC1, 2,3,4 etc without the need for a FTV card. There are other channels too...
I'm wondering what is the advantage in buying a FTV card, is there extra channels, easier to nagivate etc?
Is there a need for a FTV card?
    Thks

For C4 and C5 you still need a FTV card.

Otherwise a FTV card does nothing extra

C4 and Five appear on EPG and Sky 3 works.

FilmFour might be added in July. A UK/NI address or someone with that willing to help is required.

Concur with that - more value added with five than ch4 imo.

    Plenty more benefits -

1.Digital text on all BBC channels
    2.Digital text on ITV1,ITV2
3.Now/next facility on all these channels making it easier to tape programmes..
4.You can set the various channels as favourites meaning you will remember to watch more good programmes that might get forgotten about if you have to use other channels all the time.e.g There is many a great programme on BBC London etc at 10.30 each night which might not be on BBC NI until midnight!

Overall a very useful piece of plastic I think:)

Oh yeah, as things stand. Hopefully the BBC freesat system will solve many of those issues for general FTA receivers though.

    1) The BBC interactive works without a FTV card
    2) If you swap to UK EPG which can be done without FTV card this is also true
    3) Now/ next is available on "Other Channels". Maybe you mean Planner. See point 2.
    4) Without a FTV card I'm not sure. Perhaps this is true. However you can have ITV and ALL BBC on EPG Guide without a FTV card.

So really only of value for C4, Five and Sky3. Maybe Film four later in Summer.

Not available to residents outside UK and NI. You will have to order one through a UK or NI address I'm afraid.

Note that all Sky cards of all types, no matter how obtained belong to Sky/NDS. You only pay to use it, not to own it.
