Did you get system restore disk with it? What error message are you getting?

Dell usually have a image on a hidden partition on the hard drive. Prob easier to use that to reinstall WinXP.

Read the manual to find out what your options are:

It has an IDE drive and an intel chipset AFAIK. It looks to me like the Dimension 4600 (same FSB, memory, case) but less an AGP slot (and possibly without SATA, not sure...)

    It should *just work*.

yea this is true. No special drivers needed for windows install. Any drivers for video, sound etc can be installed post windows install.

Thanks very much, for all the help,i,m downloading all, the drivers, now, what does restore do? From the HD hidden, partition, does it restore windowsxp, without any applications, ie am i gonna have to reinstall msWord etc, what is on the dell restore cdrom , is it just the system drivers, modem, graphics intel drivers drivers, etc.i take ,it i could just install winxp from a standard cdrom, even if i had no drivers.
i mean cud i use winxp, without installing the drivers.

restore from HD puts the machine back in the exact same condition it was in when it left the factory. So all the drivers, Works, etc will be on. It will however completely delete any data or files created by the user since they got the PC.
