She is traveling sth america and Oz, she has got her tent rucksack camera clothing etc etc so anything any of you found useful in the past?

Something around the 75-100 mark would be great

I gave my friends one of the micro fibre towels (it came in a case), a travel clock (essential and sometimes forgotten) and a game for the plane and those bored moments.

The Lonely Planet diaries are also a welcome gift or you could get her a St Christopher medal if she's into that sort of thing.

(these are some of the things I've seen friends receive and use.

Its a nice idea to make up your own little travel pack for the person. Some items to include:

    Insect repellent
    A diary
    First Aid kit
    Travel games
    Inflatable pillow
    International phone card.
    A plug converter

Loads more things you could get.

A friend of mine was given a really nice travel diary/journal type thing when we went away. It was great for keeping travel info and a diary of everything along the journey. Was definitely a nice idea
