Just wondering do you have to be Irish to get a job at a county council? My wife is American but of course isa resident... there is a job in Westmeath county council she could do. However on the form they want you Junior Cert and leaving cert results... since she obviously did not do these but whatever the US equivalent is... anyway anyone know for certain? They do say they are equal oppertunity so would that not mean hey have to consider everyone who applies regardless of country of birth?

No, they will accept the 'Leaving Cert equivalent' which is usually a high school thingy. (Assuming you are Irish, she should have normal working rights here)

My missus is Canadian, and applied to Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown, but she was faced with an Irish test and backed out. Not all departments require an Irish test, but check first.
