that sounds good! does it have any issues with some avi files? or plays everything you throw at it?

why would you attach a pen drive or hard drive via USB? can you play files from the hard drive through the player?

    thanks again:)

keep an eye on Lidl and Aldi websites.. i got mine there for €69 it plays MPEG4, DIVX, AVI, MP3 etc... also has 7-1 card reader on the front ..
i can just copy movies to my camera card and slot it in the player.. handy..

    yes,
you can attach a pen drive / hard drive and play movies / jpegs . mp3s directly

    its only usb 1.1,
but thats enough to for most avi files - video is usally 700kbs and audio 128kbps
    never had slowdown with it

    plays "most" xvid/divx files
as in if you make them properly they work fine,
most movies / tv shows etc in xvid format play fine,
however if your files arent standard they may not play.
dont know how much detail i can post about this ;)
pm me if your not sure what i mean.

I didn't realise those Aldi/Lidl DVD Players could play Divx from the card readers! That's very handy! I must look out for one also!

Do you mind me asking why you are upgrading players?

    old thread...
is that question directed at me?

i upgraded to windows media centre edition as it has a lot more functionality than a dvd player.
maninly the ability to play any file over a network and record/pause/rewind live tv.
    all via a remote control
