dell inspirion 1150 laptop

    friend of mine has above laptop and today the screen went dark,tryed fn and keys to up and down brighness,still the same and power saving and still the same,reading forums says something about backlight going off
    how do you turn on and off and where do you find out
    any ideas ???????????????

    A backlight failure is when the florescent light goes on your LCD. It is possible to fix but with Dell they will only swap out the LCD.

    Please tell me you friend's warranty is still valid? As it can be expensive.

    warrentry ran out 4 weeeks aago
    ,live in limerick and dell dont take in locally

    You can ring dell and get a quote, it will most likely cost 300-350 to get fixed.

    Note: Dell is selling a laptop at the mo for 499 all in. Might be a runner?

    Alternatively you can use an external monitor.

    You could beg Dell, you never know, Dell normly has a 3 year warrenly for there suppliers.

    i had this prob with my dell inspiron 5160. dell quoted me for 720+ 21% VAT. couldnt beleive it lol. i bought a brand new screen on ebay for 330 inc p&p. it came in in 2 days :D
