    I upgraded my Broadband router at the weekend to one of the Eircom Wireless Netopia routers with the 4 port switch on the back.

    The 360 is connected by ethernet to the router as is my MCE PC and the PC is functioning as expected, I can use the MC Extender on the xbox and access live no bother. I'm having issues with online gaming (can't connect to other players type errors) so I setup the NAT rule to allow Xbox games to the relevant IP address but then I lose my MC extender functionality and all connection to x-box live, take the NAT rule out and it's the same as before :confused:

    If anybody has any idea's how to solve this I'd really love to here them please

    Hi,

    Have you tried the Universal Plug and Play (uPnP) feature of your router?

    Short Answer is "no..." :D

    The long answer is "what is this Universal Plug and Play (uPnP) feature that you speak of and what do I need to do with it"

    sorry I'm not a total idiot when it comes to these things but I'm only a step up the ladder ;) so if there's a picture book and crayon version of what you said I'd be really grateful :D

    try disable uPnP from your routers settings, see above thread

    and just in case that dont work, go back to your NAT, add an entry for your xbox's ip and port forward on both tcp and udp - ports: 88 & 3074

    OK so upnp was unselected and I setup the Nat rule again and nothing at all, like there wasn't even a network connection on the 360, I added the PPPOE username and password on the 360 and now I have the best connection I've ever had to xbox live no strict NAt or nothing woo hoo

    But...

    I can't connect to my Media Centre PC, the 360 won't even see the pc to stream music while I'm playing or anything :(

    It would appear that I can have a great online experience or MCE extender functionality. Unless I'm missing something stupidly obvious...

    so your MC pc can see the router and so can xbox but not each other? I dont have MC on MCE so I dont know if thats different or not but heres my setup

    pc with mce -> router <- xbox360

    my 360 ip has its own NAT rule on my router to port forward 88 & 3074 (live uses these ports) MCE just seemed to work automatically for me!? I have full live connectivity and 360 can see folder sharing for music & photo straming from my pc

    what exactly is your NAT rule??? have you run the network test app from the settings tab in the 360 dashboard? any errors?

    I use the "x-box live games" setting on the NAT page of the Netopia router, which wouldn't allow the 360 to communicate with anything until I put my PPPOE username and password into the 360

    I have run both the test apps, the "Xbox live" one comes back perfect, but the "Media" one fails trying to find the PC. and I've no idea why :(
