Maybe something you installed might have fecked up your computer, preferably something that would be made to work with, or overide windows

KrankStricher, lol at triple post :) I think its the first time I've seen one of those :)

Yeah My wireless connection is gone a bit AWOL,

Simple solution (if plausible) - System Restore?
that seems odd about your cd drive problem in above post, taht is sometimes caused by the Itunes problem, do you have that?

Maybe it is just your USB devices that have gone

This once happened to me when I ran a USB Tester program and stopped it before it finished and it had temporaily disabled all my USB's

You would be surprised how many things run on USB's on your computer. Alot of things run on USB's internally (like Wifi card, cardreader).

Did you run any software that would have altered your computer in any way, like disabling USB Ports???

EDIT: Just saw your post plonk, Ad-Aware would defintly not have been the cause of it

Did you try re-installing your audio drivers?

With nothing showing in the device manager I'd suggest you open the machine and re-seat the card if its a pci sound card that is. Its entirely likely that you may have moved the card slighty by tugging on speaker cables or the like.
