    This may seem like a stupid question, but is there really a huge difference between this and this give one is half as much as the other.

    The A617S is a considerably more powerful machine (Pentium® M Processor 760, 533 MHz frontside bus as opposed to a rather poor Celeron® M Processor 390 400 MHz FSB). The A617S also has a larger screen, and larger hard disk, and comes with more accessories and more RAM....
    The A617S = ATI MOBILITY RADEON™ X700 with 256MB HyperMemory™.
    The A series is pretty much desktop replacement only (i.e. Not portable).
    So,uh, yeah. There is a big difference (I'm not given to hyperbole,so I shan't use the word "huge".)



    What is the intended use? Buy what suits your needs.
