just heard about this, and couldn't find anything on it posted already..
“We will be creating 223 islands,” says Mr. Bin Sulayem. “Each island cluster will be positioned in a way to look like a continent and islands clustered together will make a country. The design is now finished, the tender is analyzed, and we are about to begin work on reclamation, which will take around two years.”

If I win the euro millions this Friday I might just try and get my hands on Ireland!

Yeah, it has been featured on virtually every news outlet in fairness. It's the kind of sequel to that giant palm tree island they made...

There's an Irish company which owns one of the Islands, I thought it was Japan but could be mistaken.. I really should pay more attention  cool idea though. They have also built the world's biggest indoor snow mountain in Dubai, its built off the side of one of the big shopping malls over there.. now that is cool

I think Rod Stewart bought Britain for £18 million or something.

But he deserves it. What hair!

I can see the islands adjacent to Flatley's skyrocketing in sale-price (if only for the opportunity to drive golfballs at his big melon head that they afford the owner)

Dont mean to pisson the parade, but what about global warming? - Rising sea levels etc mean that small islands - in the south seas and elsewhere - are going to be fecked:eek: ; So whats the plan here, or is "The World™"(:D ) going to be a microcosm for whats going to happen elsewhere?

dubai looks cool, but in my opinion its all a hype. we will see in a few years time.theres so may appartments being made and price is on the rise by fake pricing.
but anyway thats my opinion it is a lovely place but the bubble will burst one day.
