    Hi All,

My friend has just had his planning refused on the grounds of building lines?
His parents have an end plot on a street and there is enough ground for the construction of a new house at the end.

Can someone tell me what are Building Lines?
    and
Can he appeal against the decision?

    best wishes

    Hi,
unsure as you would have to give the entire sentence but if the house he wanted to build was a different height and proportion than the others on the road then the planners would have a proplem and could suggest that the building should be kept within the current building lines.

Ring the planning department at your local council and ask them.

The final decision that was posted to the applicant would give the reason for the refusal eg, visual amenity, public health, to protect the amenities of the area... Your council may have the application on thier website.

I'm thinking of applying for planning permission to build a new dwelling on the land next to our current house. Everything is fine to build within the rules, however it will be build outside of a strong building line. What are my chances that it will be approved? Anyone?

    Mod edit:

    Hi John,

This is an old thread it would be best if you started your own thread here. Also there is a Construction and planning forum now set up since this thread was made
