    Hello,
Just wondering what is the best cinema in dublin ? In terms of seating/size and a big one for me ... sound quality.... Dolby Rating/THX etc...

    I know the following:

    Cineworld Parnel St.
    Ster Century, Liffey Valley
    Blanchardstown

    etc..

But which is the best ?

    Any advice appreciated !!

my personal favourite is Cineworld in Parnell st as it has a nice bar and i can pay in once and then wonder around from screen to screen for the whole day ;)
the biggest screen is still Savoy 1 and it always good to treat yourself to a film there once in a while

Ah, but are the seats comfy? I haven't been there since about a year before the redo so I really don't know. Cineworld's are quite nice.

Not so nice when some f*ckwit is kicking back if for an hour and a half and cineworld is full of f*ckwits.

AFAIK the biggest is the Ster followed by Savoy- same order for screen size as well. My personal preference is for the refurbished OMNI in Santry. Easy to get in and out of - an essential requuirement .

I personally love star century cinema in liffey valley, very comfortable seating and screen one is nice and roomy, the sound has always been good to.

I like ster century myself, tho last time i noticed a crackle in the speaker in screen 1 which was a touch annoying!

Cineworld is good cos its in town and they have a bar!!

I agree with most that Cineworld is THE only cinema worth going to in town!!
17 screens means you're spoiled for choice from a range of genres both Hollywood and arthouse! The bar is sweet, the Q's usually move along quickly on a busy night but, ain't there always a but,I have to agree with MonkeyFudge in that at most evening shows of popular movies it's full of cinema terrorists!! Phones ringing and being answered, talking and on a couple of occasions fighting!!! The management need to be petitioned about the lack of staff in screens at any given time. And as for sound I've never had a problem with being seated very comfartably and having my head blown off at a good Horror or Action flick!!

Ster sounds like overall the best from talking to other people since posting...

I go to Cineworld a lot .. but its sound systems arent up to much... maybe in a couple of the bigger screens but its hard to find out what film is on in what screen...

Again i dont mind of course for bog standard films but every now and then when a good sci-fi etc comes out... your missing half the production if your not getting the big picture/sound...

Will try Ster at the weekend and report...
