Heard the match in a screaming pub so missed some of the finer points ......... what did Flannery say - was it something about one of the English team being a fat James Blunt ??

    Cheers

  • i believe it was "that's twice now you fat Cnut"

    to Steve Thompson

who was clearly sent on to try to intimidate him.

Fair play to Flannery, he was the Man for the Moment

who was clearly sent on to try to intimidate him.

Well that will make him a legend for ever in munster folklore. Bit embarrasing for the Union - I'd imagine he might be made apologise ? I would say there are not too many people who have got to say that on National & International TV to an audience of how many, 150 million ?

    150 million? I wouldn't say so:)

Don't think they ever had the nerve to ask Ciaran FitzGerald to apologise for asking where the team's "****ing pride" was. What Flannery said was in the heat of them moment, you can't try and take that edge of a player.

They cant really make him apologise for being fired up, it was said in the heat of the moment.

More to the point what was Thompson doing to upset Flannery so much?

Apparently, thumbs were judiciously applied to Fla's eyes.

Spot on. In all seriousness, Flannery was outstanding. I'm delighted we've secured a good replacement hooker so quickly after the Wood/Mullet era.

If it was thumbs, then it wasn't the Fat Cnut, it must've been one of the locks - otherwise the Fat Cnut would have to be an contortionist, which he's too fond of the pies to be.

    Na, reverse head-butt more likely.

We always had good hookers available, well munster did anyway;)
Frankie Sheahan is a great hooker and Flannery is just carrying on the tradition, just a pity we haven't got more front row players, John Hayes is worked hard without a break.

It could well have been, but he did say to the ref he had been gouged after the fat cnut came on.
