    Got Italy to win, Argentina 2nd and Brazil 3rd.

    not to sure i agree with myself but i definitely can see a european side winning the world cup this year... especially italy, holland if they get the team working right, and i'd give england an outside chance

    IMO, Brazil will not win it as no South American team has ever won a World Cup in Europe.

    And even if the stat was correct, which it is not, I do not see the correlation between what has happened in the past and what could happen in the future, especially when it comes to the World Cup.

    probably because, in general, its too cold in europe and the brazilians not used to it, hehe :)

    i think italy will take it anywyas, they have an excelllent squad and i just fancy them to seal the deal :)

    Argentina
    Brazil
    England

    I think Argentina are going to do it this year if their coach decides what players should be playing in what positions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,004 ✭✭✭Big Ears

    1st=Italy
    2nd=Czech Republic
    3rd=Argentina

    Brazil lost to Italy in the second round (Italy came second in the group to the Czech's on goal difference)

    Unfortunately, I cant see any team beating Brazil, they possess the ability to outscore any other team, more so this time than 4 years ago. i hope for someone else other than Brazil and England to win it.

    With the amount of money I put on Italy I'll certainly have a team to support at the world cup. This thread has given me confidence that I'm not the only one who believes they can win it. You can get 10/1 with Italy on Betfair while the bookies have them at 9s and some are even given 10s. So there's only really a 10% difference between the bookies odds and betfair odds on Italy which shows they're being backed.

    Betfair pride themselves on their "20% better odds than the bookies". The way things are going it seems the bookies just look betfair and take 20% off to calculate their own prices. :) Anyway, here is the difference between betfair and the majority of the bookies at the time of writing:

    Brazil: 20%
    England: 20%
    Germany: 17.6%
    Argentina: 16.6%
    Italy: 10%
    France: 40%
    Holland: 30%
    Spain: 46%

    imo, Italy are still over priced and if I keep finding spare change lying around I'll be sticking it on Italy. :) In their last 7 times at the world cup they've got out of their group in all 7. They've come 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in those 7 years too. Their record is very good and they are playing some football at the moment with a fantastic bunch of players.

    And if anyone care's, John Motson said he not only backed Italy but would lay England.

    I might have to stick a few quid on that!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭Bob the Seducer

    1st Brazil
    2nd Argentina
    3rd Italy
    4th Holland

    Argentina's goalkeeper Abbondanzieri worrys me, I saw the game against England and he didn't exactly inspire confidence. No European experience either if I remember correctly. Personally I'd like to see the Argentinians win it so I'm hoping he was just having an off day.

    Italy at 10/1? I think i'll give them a flutter.

    I would like to see Czech Rep and Ukraine to have good world cups because Shevchenko and Nedved are in their first and probably their last WC and I think they are top players

    Eirebhoy is there any traps with using betfair?

    THIRDPLACE GERvHOL

    this is my shout. i think that holland may turn out to be dark horses of this one. There doesn't seem to be the in fighting that has wrecked their chances in the past and they are playing decent football. can't rule germany either in my opinion. always there or there abouts when you think about being able to pull a performance out of the bag.
    btw for all you that fancy argentina, i had them come up against germany in the quarters, and i forsaw a ballack led victory lol

    Seems to be a common enough result from people. The same 3 teams.

    Mine are no different:
    World Cup 2006
    Winner: BRA
    2nd: ARG
    3rd: ITA

    I really fancy Italy to get it together in this world cup and as an outside bet, Ukraine.
