For the moment... ...no tickets are available..

There are more tickets going on sale Friday and some kinda of site launch happening the Thursday (dont know if this will include a basic headliner lineup but Im hoping it will).

Im giving this next batch a shelf life of maybe a week at the most if they do stick out anything remotely resembling a few big names on the Thursday.

This isn't entirely unexpected. Launch party is on Thursday in Crawdaddy. Lineup will be announced then too.

Only the smaller 1st batch sold out, here's what Electric said on the EP board
Just to clarify for you - first batch of tickets that were put on sale are sold out. Second batch of tickets goes on sale this Fri, to coincide with launch on Thurs..

    Line-up announced Thursday/Friday

Can someone edit the title? Very misleading.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭Toast

As of now you currently cant get tickets so I dont think I lied but Ill admit its a bit sensational.

I chose the title because I feel it will be true quick enough and people need to be aware that the full batch is out on Friday with the lineup and its going to sell out quick for real then.

I think a little bit of panic now is a lot more useful than seeing this topic Friday evening when they cant do anything about it.. but sure whatever the mods think.

Did it sell out last year at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭comet

only 25,000 tickets aren't there? it'll sell out alright, they 've just stopped selling the tickets to build a little hype for the lineup announcement on thursday. I'd imagaine anyone who hasn't a ticket would want to pick one up pretty soon when they go back on sale though.
I would love to see the Pet Shop Boys but thats about it, a lot of the acts are too electronic and leftfield for me.
is there such thing as a day ticket for EP? (i think not)

    30,000 tickets this year!

As far as I know, don't think there are going to be any day tickets this year...all camping...which is also 3 nights this year! Woo hoo! :D

There's no individual day tickets or non-camping tickets.

They seem to be running 'mystery act' ads on the radio these few days...they play two/three bits of tunes by an act and advertise the Electric Picnic without mentioning the act, just saying tickets on sale Friday. Thus far, we would seem to have the Pet Shop Boys and Basement Jaxx turning up. Anybody heard any others of these adverts?

Yeah yeah yeahs seem to be playing - the ad's playing golden lion

And it's a brilliant idea, they can change the layout so camping can be even closer to the arena without buffer areas for daywalkers

Anyone know how to get into the launch party tomorrow, or is it press only?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 525 ✭✭✭ya-what-now?

Some members on the Electric Picnic boards got their name on a guestlist but that's full now.

So afaik, just press otherwise unless ya know someone involved! :o

Ah now, EP people are good people! Unlike those racists over at Oxegen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,836 ✭✭✭Toast

Sorry every thread being derailed into incessant in-jokes and flirting between users while the ever growing animated avaters and signatures fill the screen means that I rarely have much patience for it.

Also why are there two general forums?

But yes I agree the Oxegen forum compared to the Electric Picnic forum is the difference between screeching monkeys flinging poo at each other and a chingwag in a drawing room with brandy and cigars.

Actually... thats quite reflective of the differences between the festivals now that I think about it.

I'm pretty sure the ticket won't mean you can't leave! *MUST* stay there!

And if you meant something different I don't think anyone even remotely ginger will be permitted to purchase a ticket

Oh dear lord.......can someone please tell me what this is about?! Im having serious doubts if EP have something big planned for Damien Rice........

Nevermind, someone from the EP boards has posted it:

    From Hotpress.com
In what is one of the most sensational developments of the summer festival season, Damien Rice has been added to the line-up for Electric Picnic. However, Hot Press can reveal that, in addition to performing, the Kildare troubadour has committed to an even more ambitious role in the event.

In what is a first for an Irish festival, Rice will be hosting a special stage – a factor that is bound to add even greater riches to an already impressive line-up. Electric Picnic takes place over three days, starting Friday September 1 in Stradbally, County Laois.

While full details have yet to be revealed, it seems certain that the imprimatur of an artist who has won the respect of the business internationally for his independent stance, both as a songwriter and in his approach to the business, will be a key factor in attracting additional names.

Rice’s debut album O – which has been a total of a staggering 215 weeks in the Irish Top 75 – has sold close to two million copies worldwide and its songs have been featured in a number of movies, including the critically acclaimed Closer, which starred Julie Roberts.

Among the acts already revealed in Hot Press as being Stradbally-bound are Massive Attack, Basement Jaxx, Gary Numan and Groove Armada. The full line-up is set to be announced later this week, stay tuned to hotpress.com for details.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday March 24 priced €175 for the three days, including camping.

    *shiver*

True, but at least Blunt want given a whole stage to orchestrate by himself....on the back of 1 album by the way!

No bothers, as long as I know where it is, I'll hope to stay clear - especially if its more of the same solo-singer-songwriters.
