Alice In Chains reform - and play Ireland

The legendary grunge band return with a new singer to replace the late Layne Staley.

Alice In Chains have been confirmed as one of the supports on July 11 when Metallica bring their Escape From The Studio ’06 tour to the RDS.

Currently rehearsing for a VH1 Decades Rock Live! special, the line-up features original Chain gangers Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez and Sean Kinney plus Comes With The Fall singer William DuVall who replaces the deceased Layne Staley.

“We’re making it up as we go along,” Cantrell explains. "It's what we always did in the past. We're writing the book as we live it. We feel confident that we will have a good time and that it's something that will live up to the same level.

"It's an exploratory thing, and we're just having fun with it. We'd like to go out and play for the people that supported us and love the music as much as we have all these years. We want to celebrate what we did and the memory of our friend."

Alice In Chains aren’t the only amps on ‘11’ merchants making a comeback, with San Franciscan power metallers Armored Saint slotting in a June 29 gig at the Spring & Airbrake, Belfast.

Korns first 2 albums were excellent...after that it went downhill! Great to hear about Alice In Chains also, cant wait to hear 'Would' :)

What kinda prices are we talking here guys?? I would love to see AIC again even if it meant lining Metalica's pocket:rolleyes: I mean they should of stopped after the Black album...sorry (edit: no I'm not sorry actually:-))

Ah, maybe I shouldn't spoil that memory of the front row in the SFX:p

I hope it running order is like this: Metallica->Alice in Chains->Korn

Would hate to have Korn as the top support above AIC

Can't believe that some of ye are bashing korn, sure their latest stuff is gone to sh*te but is that really a reason to be mouthing? ASAIK korn were the originals in nu metal and really helped with child abuse awarness and so forth, blahdeblah... Anyway I feel they should be respected for that! Thats my 2c!
Not forgetting that AIC and Metallica rock and its gonna be a excellent concert! Woo!

oh my god how amazing was the SFX with alice in chains and pantera a few weeks before, these were tha last few gig in ireland where stage diving occured amazing stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭violenza

Yep was at the pantera too and STP, Pumpkins, Foos yadda yadda all in the SFX . God those days are sorely missed. Anyways AIC was probably the best gig I was ever at(well Janes addiction came close a couple of years ago in glasgow) . "our stage is your stage, just nobody touch my jack daniels" Layne was so cool...

    Don't mean to gloat:)

On the bloodsimple myspace i think it says they go on stage at 12....Aiken really
need to get there act together and start confirming things

Yep they sure do, on Stone Sour it says 5pm and Avenged Sevenfold is at 8pm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,550 ✭✭✭NIBBS

can't see Avenged Sevenfold being on that late in the day, not with Trivium, AIC, Korn and Metallica ahead of them........would certainly be nice if they gave up some information or finally properly launched the Irish Download website....

I have a bad feeling that Avenged Sevenfold maybe higher than Alice In Chains on the bill,on the download festival lineup they are higher up than alice in chains.i just hope that doesn't mean anything for over here

Doubt it, and the Download site doesn't have anything in order after the first two bands, so we'll have to see what develops, there should be an update there tomorrow or Wednesday...
