    what about you guys?

is it possible to copy a dvd in 10mins (onto hard-drive & burn to dvd)?

Using my A64 system, it takes about 17mins with dvd shrink, straight to DVD.

Are these times for copying a single layer non-protected DVD?

    smemon,
To burn a DVD depends on the write speed of your DVD writer and the media.

Check you spec.s in 'my computer'.

I have 8x writer and 8x media which writes 8 times quicker that it plays ect.

The faster the writer and media the faster it will take to burn.

    Smemon,
    I use DVD+.
DVD- is an older standard and is more suited to older DVD players. DVD+ More suited to PC and has better Error correction code.

There is no 'real' or quality difference between the two.

k, cheers. if its one thing they have to improve on it's copying speed. i hate waiting around on a dvd to burn. even though it takes up little cpu power, it's always there revving up in the background.

ive it on my laptop and it takes about 12mins to get it onto the laptop and about 40mins to get it onto a disk
ive a question though if you had a pc with 2 cd drives could you just copy the dvd from the dvd to the blank disk or do you have to copy it onto the hard drive 1st?

you just copy directly onto the cd, no hard drive needed. :D

but seen as i use my laptop for everything, i end up using the laptop for burning dvd's too. it'd be handy to have 2 dvd drives in a laptop. maybe in the future :)

Yeah you could with nero, but you'd need two dvd drives, not two cd drives, dvd shrink is just to get it onto the hard drive, id be lost without it!!! :)

In my experience it's better to copy the dvd to the hard drive first. If it's a protected dvd you have to anyway. You are less likely to get errors by copying any kind of disc to the hard drive first and the slower you burn the better the quality.
