    hi, could anyone recomend a good poker book for a complete novice.

    i think there was already a thrread on this a while back, try a search.

    How much of a novice are you? as in do you know about position, beting patterns, pot odds etc?? i would also consider myself a novice but i have an understanding of these concepts so if these mean nothing to you then there's plenty of sites that explain the basics, eghttp://www.flopturnriver.com/

    as for books harrington on holdem vol1 seems to be recommended by the boardsters here, i've only just got it myself and find it quite useful, its in waterstone at 24E

    Didn't ask, 24E was steep enough for me as it was!!! I had it on order as they said they had a shipment of books coming from the U.S so its possible they have vol2 as well

    They had vol2 in Hodges Figgis across the road last week breadmonkey. Not sure if they still have it.

    Harrington on Holdem vloumes 1 and 2 are the best poker books ive ever read. These book are for tournament play though so make sure this is what your after but i'd recommend them highly. I got mine off amazon.
