    Hi,
I am interested in taking up Thai boxing or MMA and was wondering if there was any places to do it in the City Centre at the weekend?
I am 18 and a bit unfit and would like to get fitter and help defend myself as well.
    I don't have a car so i'll be relying on the train/bus.
    Any help would be appreciated:)
    thanks
    David

I don't know about the weekend but www.bridgestonemuaythai.com have classes all week.

I should probably also plug my training group in Glasnevin, Friday nights 8-9pm!!

    Hey Dave.

Are weekends the only good time for you? I train in an MMA school down in East Wall on a Tuesday evening...6.30 - 8.30. Its 15 min walk from Connolly station.

The weekend would be the best with school and study etc. but i could probably go during the week
I'll have to start going jogging or something first to bring my fitness level up to get the benefit of the classes though, before i start something new.
Thanks alot though, i'll think about it

    David,
The fitness thing is a total myth. You don't need to be fit to start. That will come over time and very few people are as fit as they want to be when they start. http://www.ko-martialarts.com/faq.htm

Obviously the fitter you are the more you can do initially, but part of the buzz of starting something new is feeling that improvement. In any case you have an open invitation to ko martial arts, if you fancy popping down to us on Tuesday night if it's convenient for you you'll be more than welcome ;)

Best of luck no matter where your search takes you,
    Barry

Your fitness level with increase after a few classes.

Where on the Northside are you, SBG Northside is a really good MMA club, they're in Donaghmede, it's a really friendly group of guys & Andy is an excellent instructor.
    They train Monday to Thursday 19.30-21.30 & Saturday 12.30 - 1400
Monday & Saturday is MMA / Tuesday & Thursday is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu / Wednesday is Judo.

Bridgestone is an excellent place to train too & apart from being an excellent fighting sytle Thai is also great for building up fitness.

    Hope this helps.
