Does any on have the above working as a wireless access point and if so can they tell me how they set it up for xbox live. Being trying to get it set up all day but cant figure it out at all.

    I've done the following

Plugged in cable from bridge to laptop
Changed automatic ip from static and assigned.
Gave the router an ip address of 192.168.0.25
I set the ssid to default (the name of the wireless router that sends out the signal)
I've sent the bridge to channel 6
I've set the wep address on the bridge to the same as the wep.

I disconnet the bridge and plug it into the xbox.
I go through the set up and get as far as dns server and it fails on this.

I've been trying to set up xbox live for months but nothing seems to be working and am at a loss.

If any one can help it be great.

Have you tried here to get help? Seems very simple setup TBH

    Couple of Q's to start:

    1. Why did you change the router default address?

    2. Are you having any problems getting on net through router with a PC?

    3. Turn OFF WEP until you get connection working, encryption just
complicates the setup especially when your having problems.

    4. You mention bridge, by this I take it you mean the ethernet sockets on
    back of router?

    5. Do you want to connect the XBox wirelessly or with a cable?
If wirelessly you need a wireless bridge for the XBox otherwise just an
    ethernet cable.

    6. Have you googled the problem??? Should be your first step.

Also try here for more help. or

    http://www.xbox.com/en-IE/support/xbox/connect/

    Edit:

    http://www.xbox.live.btinternet.co.uk/Firewalls.htm
may need to set this too

Se how you get on with these sites and post up progress / hair pulling out etc.

I have googled it and this is the best I've come up with.

Not the same model and brand but I thought the princibles would be the same.

Connect Your Ethernet Enabled Devices Using the D-Link Wireless Bridge
Convert virtually any Ethernet-based device — set-top box, game console (Xbox®, PS2®, GameCube®), printer, laptop, or even desktop — into a wireless network device.
Note: The following installation instruction applies to DWL-G810, DWL-810+, and DWL-810 through a Win XP client.
    Hardware Installation
    A. Connect the power adapter to the receptor at the back panel of the bridge and then plug the other end of the power adapter to an electrical outlet or power strip.

    B. For initial configuration, insert one end of the Ethernet cable into bridge and the other end into your wireless Router. Make sure you have a laptop/desktop hard wired to that wireless Router to setup the bridge.

    C. Then attach the included antenna behind the bridge and lift it so it's vertically positioned.

    Configuring the bridge
    1. Now for purpose of configuring the bridge, assign the laptop/desktop (connected to the wireless Router) to static IP within the default IP address range of 192.168.0.30 (wireless bridge). Click on "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Network Connections" > Right click on "Local Area Connections" > Highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" > Click "Properties".

    2. Below window will appear. Select "Use the following IP address" circle. Type your IP address and subnet mask. (The IP address of the wireless bridge is 192.168.0.30. You can assign 192.168.0.51 for your computer as an example. No two computers can have the same IP Address. Then assign a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0)

    3. Open your Web browser and type "http://192.168.0.30" into the URL address box. Then press the Enter or Return. If the page does not load, then unplug the bridges' power adapter from the outlet and then plug it back in. Wait a minute for the bridge to cycle through and then try typing in the URL again.
Screenshot is captured from DWL-G810 configuration. However, the installation instruction applies to other D-Link wireless bridges as well (DWL-810+, DWL-810).

    4. A username/password pop-up box will appear. Type "admin" for the username and leave the password field blank. Then click "OK".

    5. Once you have logged in, the Home screen will appear. Click on "Run Wizard".

    6. You will see the following screen. Continue by clicking "Next".

    7. Set Password box will appear. You have an option to setup your new password. By default there is no password set. Then click "Next" to continue.

    8. Set Wireless LAN Connection box will appear. The default wireless settings are: SSID = default, Channel = 6, Operating Mode = Infrastructure. If your existing wireless network SSID is not default, click Site Survey button to select a wireless network or you can change the settings manually by typing. Then click "Next" to continue.

    9. Setup Encryption box will appear. By default the encryption is disabled. You can change the encryption settings for more secure wireless communication. Then click "Next" to continue.

    10. Setup Completed box will appear. Continue by clicking "Next".

    11. Saving Changes and Restarting box will appear. Continue by clicking "Next".

    12. After completing the configuration, assign your laptop/desktop back to automatic IP address setting as shown in figure below. Click on "Start" > "Control Panel" > "Network Connections" > Right click on "Local Area Connections" > Click "Properties". Then check the "Obtain an IP address automatically" and click "OK".

    13. You can now un-plug the bridges' Ethernet cable from the wireless Router and remotely connect your bridge with any Ethernet enabled device such as gaming console, printer, laptop pc, desktop, or set top box.

For other configuration setups, please refer to the product manual.

I want to use the netgear as a wireless bridge so that the xbox can use the ethernet port to play xbox in my room.

I've a wirless card on my laptop and that works fine.

Cant sort this out at all

You are connecting the XBox to the router via an ethernet cable? Correct? Then just set the XBox to get its IP via DHCP from the router and that should be it, remembering to disable wep for the time being to allow you to debug to connections.

Who are you getting BB from and is it through another modem/router or the netgear one in your room?

Yeah I'm connecting the xBox to the router with a ethernet cable.

    Broadband is by BT.

I've got the bt router plus a wireless D-Link DI-624 sending out a wireless signal.

Will give it a bash tomorrow and will update.

    Thanks for the help

Sorry but is the BT router wireless too?

If so I take it you have set them both to the same ssid to allow them bridge (going on the statement that the laptop connects fine).

No problem for the help just keep posting up the progress...

No the I use the bt router that was supplied 2 years ago (was esat then) and bought a D-Link DI-624 to make it go wireless.

The SSID on the D-Link and Netgear router is both the same and set an the same channel

OK I was playing around with it some more. When I got to the checking status screen I got a new message. It can find its IP. Then the error message says that it can not get this IP for DHCP or PPOPE (I think thats it).

I chekced my router. DHCP is turned off. Gona try and figure out to turn it on. Maybe thats the problem?
