Azureus killing my RAID 0!?

Ok, recently re-installed X64(final with all updates) and it's all running fine except for one thing:

When I run Azureus(most recent version) my RAID 0 array disappears from the the system after about 15 to 20 minutes. Using SiL's SATARAID tool to check the array; status shows that one disc has gone offline. If i unplug the SATA connector to the drive & plug it back in the array will come back online and work until around 15 minutes after running Azureus :dunno:

Anyway, without Azureus the drives work fine, anyone else had this issue? is it a software prob? a controller prob? would appreciate any input........

how about you stop using Azureus? Try utorrent, its a lot smaller (runs from the exe) and doesn't eat up any system resources.

I have a RAID 0, with 2xWD Caviar SATA2s, and I use Shareaza with no problems. It could be a power issue, if one drive is going offline, what status are you getting of your RAID at boot?

Ditto, I dumped Azureus for uTorrent a few weeks ago, runs great on my PII 333

Sounds like a driver I/O problem to me I use Azureus on an Silicon Image RAID 0 array with a 3132 controller and don't get these sort of problems at all.

I recall some problems with HDs and Azureus because of the strain Bit-torrent puts on the system but that was ages ago and they built in a cache to alleviate any contsant read/writes to the HD.

All I can suggest if you want to keep running Azureus is make sure you have the latest RAID controller drivers, version of Java & Azureus installed.

Of course could be something else that is the cause (Azureus is just the catalyst for some problem in the system) it would be worth running diagnostics on your HD's with the manufactuers utility.

No problems reported on Boot. Issue is only recent on X64. Only new item in the system is a 250gb samsung on the other controller. But haven't had any probs poer wise running 4 drives(PSU is a Jeantech Arctic 600).

Although, having run xp32, i recieved a BSOD while azureus ran but related to a drive that azureus doesn't use or access(and on a diff controller).

Starting to think its a motherboard issue and Azureus as the only intensive HD user is triggering it... will try utorrent in the meantime and see what that does.

Same result with utorrent  Same drive on the array goes offline each time even when attached to different ports. So backing up the array now & will run seatools on it to see if a warranty claim is in order!

On a side note the error gives a BSOD due to ftdisk.sys on XP32 and just an error msg on XP64, so score one for xp64 for not crashing :) now all i need is stable drivers.........
