    Leave the job?

I've been in IT a long time and I hear the above from alot of people, if you don't like an aspect of a company/job don't waste your time with it.

If it's the company treating you like a retard move on, if it's the people around you speak up.

When I started out in IT i was doing support in a financial looking after arragont ignorant f*ck pots.

Those who treated me with respect their systems ran like clock work and could always get their work done.

ignorant f*ck pots who looked down on me because because i was just the "IT guy" could never seem to logon and get anywork done.

    weird isn't it ? ;)

It is not what I am qualified for.
    The pay is below average.
    My bosses are snotty.
The office politics and back stabbing is daily.

    On the plus side -
    It is 9 to 5
    and
It pays for part time courses (Which I hope to apply for soon - If they decline - I'll move on)

It is bad putting up with a crap job in order that they'll pay for courses. Maybe - It is strategic but I'll feel sneaky and devious.

    They may however refuse funding.

Not very much. I suppose the job is a bit insecure, could be offshored at any point etc etc.

How I've to get up at 7:30 on Monday morning to be in for 9. Dealing with ignorant members of the public as well can be quite frustrating.

Other then that I like it. :D

Hmm, I wonder is there any job in this world were bosses are not snotty and office politics and back stabbing are not a given fact.

If the negatives outweight positives, then move on.

Working with incompetent lazy loudmouths who think they are good at their jobs when in fact they are a liability whom I have to cover for ,while they steal credit.

The problem with I.T. support is that those who are idiots are also most likely to give you ****, thus you spend the bulk of your time helping people who don't deserve it.
The more inept someone is at using a computer, the more likely they are to blame you (personally) when something goes wrong. 99% of these people also lack any logical or troubleshooting skills, which renders them unable to learn from you.

This particularly true in places where people are supposedly educated and intelligent (such as financial institutions). These people decide that the problem is not their inability to understand the technology (because they consider themselves able to understand anything), the problem is the technology's inability to understand them.

    Rant over.

I've only been in my current job three weeks, so I can't give you any pet hates now. Though there is a union. That's a point lost instantly :)

In my Job, my end of the process takes on a large amount of responsability for information being processed...People earlier in the process are just tracking in or updating applications, so don't really give a fu*k about making mistakes...my job is to call clients and confirm the details, but I spend 3/4 of my time fixing peoples mistakes, and when I call the client, half of the info is wrong and I have to update that all too!!!

But here's the best part...since I'm the guy who talked to the client, If ANY mistakes slip through the net...I get blamed!!

Load of sh*t really, and I detest the incompitant fu*ks who deal with the stuff before me, and people are employed to LOOK for mistakes and if they find any, they get you to contact the client again, but they come up to you like their sh*t dosen't stink, up their own arse attitude and treat you like an idiot!

It seems in my job, I (and people in my department) are the only ones who have to take any responsability for the work they do, which isn't a problem, I just wish everyone else would do their fuc*ing job too!!!

    [/rant]

Ahh, great thread, thanks, I needed that! :)

    Earning less than i should.
Working with people who can't seem to grasp simple instructions i put in emails.
Listening to people moan at me about the most trivial things..

GET A LIFE YOU SAD TOSSER!!!

    I'm going to lunch now.

    Unachieveable deadlines.
Clients who think they can just put money wherever they like without disclosing it.
Blatant Tax evaders.(there the people who don't try and hide it).
A ratio of about 1 Manager to 10 Junior staff which is ridiculous in my place.
Lack of understanding when something goes wrong and no time is allocated to sort the problem out, which means I've to work every hour under the sun.
Man i coudl go on forever, that's all for now.

Oh yeah before anybody says "Just move on", I'm contracted here for another 28 months because I'm a trainee. It sucks balls

Edit: Just to those I.T. people, feel for all of you who have to deal with the rest of us. Anytime there's something wrong with my laptop I always try and find out what's wrong with it before going to I.T., then I get him to show me how to fix it. In the long run it saves me time because I won't have to give him a call and then wait for him the next time.

I'm by far the youngest in my department, I'm doing Level 2 tech support, yay no phones and decent level of respect, but had more fun with people my own age in the call centres.

I find the work a bit too easy as well *shrug*

Ringing IT and being asked have I tried turning it off and on again. Yes, believe it or not, that is actually the first thing I try!!!!

Other than that, office politics, the commute, the wages.
