Spyware keeps coming back

    Hi

When I run Spybot - Search and Destroy it ususally comes up with the same things.

    Advertising.com (1 entry)
    Avenue A, Inc. (1 entry)
    DoubleClick (1 entry)
    FastClick (6 entries)
    WebTrends live (2 entries)

I know that these are only tracking cookies and don't pose much threat, but it annoys me that they keep coming back, if you understand me.

You see what happens, these will come up in a scan, and then I fix them. Which is fine, they do get removed, because if I run a scan directly after these do not come up, so they are being removed

From this I have concluded that they are probably being loaded onto my computer by a website (and I have a pretty good idea which website).

Now, my question is, is there any way to immunize my computer from these entries?? I have my computer immunized from Spybot, but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick. I also have Windows Defender and Ad-Aware installed, but they don't pick up on any of these, just Spybot.

BTW I'm using Windows XP Home Edition SP2 on a shared wireless Eircom Broadband internet connection

I have added a screen-shot of what Spybot gives me when done a scan
    Screenshot

PS Please don't tell me not to visit this website because its a good website and I don't want to go and find another that does the same job because I like this one

    hi there,

    just my two penny bit...

really, you would need something commercial such as McAfee or Norton to ensure that any spyware that is detected and removed, stays away... with the McAfee product, they have the ability to scan for viruses and spyware using the same DATs. This means that it checks against a known database and if it finds it, is deleted autmatically for you!

(and I have a pretty good idea which website).

Yahoo per chance? Have you installed the spybot 'hosts' file list? That will block them..

And please 'Don't' install Norton or McAfee.. The first is notorious and has a long history for failing against Trojans - the second hogs resources like no tomorrow. Plus they cost..

Install the spybot hosts file should cure it :)

I have Kaspersky 2006, its an anti-virus/spyware blocker, i would highly recommend it, i never get any viruses or spyware. Kaspersky updates daily automatically, and runs real time protection

yes it's included. Open spybot (I take it you have the latest version? which is spybot 1.3). Look down at the bottom left corner you should see three boxs one marked 'Tools' click on that and a set of advanced options appear. Click on 'Hosts' and from there you can install a list of known bad sites that will be blocked from installing known spyware/tracking functions.

Those you listed above are in the block list. Should sort the problem. If you mess with the other advanced functions - be careful! It can be hard to recover from a miss setting..

    :)

nb: If your in basic mode switch to advanced via file (I think it's in there off the top of my head without checking like)

    :)
