You need a cross over cable for this! I can make you one if you want? I provide this service for all boards.ie users. My thread is in the for sale / services fourm.

Instead of using a crossover cable (not trying to take a business from you galwaydude18, just sharin me advice) you could use the Gmail Space extenstion for Firefox and upload your files to your gmail account (2.7GB). And then when you get to your other PC you can download them back off

It does this through using a FTP like interface

If you need an invite to gmail PM Me and I will sort you out ;)

lord thats a mad idea! You would at least a 2mb broadband connection tto do that! Seriously Could you imagine how long that would take to do on dial up!

Never mind uploading 2.7GB on broadband what it would do your download cap that month! It would severly cut your downloads that month and put ya over your limit for the month depending how much you've already downloaded and uploaded it mite put you over your limit and cost ya a lot more buck then if he / she get a cross over cable!

no problem just felt that he / she should know what would happen if they go that route! A crossover cable is by far the best and quikest method of transfering files between a pc and a laptop!

    Agreed

The Gmail Space would be better if you wanted to copy files from say your home computer to your work computer, where it would be impossible to get a crossover cable. But otherwise, crossover cables are by far the best option :)

Or you could upload it.... that would be a free option. It's not all that hard to imagine with 8 meg down, 1 meg up and no cap ;)
