Was reading about this on the wiki, it may not be true or it may be a dated reference...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amhr%C3%A1n_na_bhFiann
In recent years, a number of Irish newspapers and columnists have proposed replacing Amhrán na bhFiann with a new national anthem, arguing that the current wording is excessively militant and anti-British. Others have argued that the melody is difficult for bands to play.

I can see the point, but I'm not too pushed on this whole revisionist thing; I mean, yeah... it's militant but not really anti-British (As in there are no references I can see)... if there was to be a United Ireland (in about 2000 years!) then, yeah, it would probably get changed but not just for the sake of it.

would not surprise me if it was the ususal suspects in the Sunday Indo with thier cringe inducing hatred of expressions of Irishness.

I can't see any 'anti-British' sentiment in the anthem unless, of course, you regard any song that proclaims our fight for independence as 'anti-British'

There's that bit about "Out yonder waits the Saxon foe" in the full version.

Compared to La Marseillaise, seems pretty tame.

But the worst horror, comes from the wikipedia article
Some have proposed that the anthem be replaced with the Irish Rugby Football Union's song, Ireland's Call.
While I do sing it, lyrics always strikes me as a bit teletubbyish.
