    Hey all,

Im just curious, are all the taxi company's in Ireland really bad? The reason why I ask is because im after having some problems getting my girlfriend a taxi home (she lives just outside tramore in a place called fenor - not sure if anyone knows it!).

We booked a cab with the same crowd we normally go for - Tramore Cabs - to bring my girlfriend and her friend home at about 11.45PM St. Paddy's Night. When I made the booking the person down the phone (the wife of the owner) sighed and said OK. When I asked what time, she just said "ill fit you in now before it gets to busy". That was fine, we waited for the cab for a good while and when there was no sign the girlfriend called and asked what the story was. She said that one of the cars broke down and she couldn't bring her home and that she had no way of contacting us. She then tried other cabs and they wouldn't bring her for at least an hour.

When I was told about this, I called back myself as I always (unless its 2/3AM when they ignore all calls etc) get cabs from them. I spoke calm and nicely and asked what the story was. She said she was only doing "local" calls (Fenor being 20mins away from Tramore) and when I booked she made the request to another cab service and his car broke down. She had "no way" of contacting us, even though she knew me well, also knew the name/address of the place to go to AND the house number would of came up on caller display.

I explained that it wasn't fair that she abandon her after we made the booking with her, and considering we have given plenty of custom (parents run a B&B, so all taxi calls go to them) to them its only fair that they fit in a slot for her and drop her home (after all, its there fault they let her down.)! She refused, and when I tried to reason with her (still being calm and I even said to her I didnt want to argue or sound rude) she just ignored me and refused to speak - even when I asked "Are you ignoring me?". I told her she wouldn't be getting any business of us again, and I was shocked and upset that they let us down. and hung up.

Called Coast Cabs and asked to speak to a chap I knew, was refused. I explained the problem and she said "Not for another hour, iv got calls to take. Buy" and hung up. Used to her attitude, she's very rude and has caused me and others grief before.

Called the only other company, Strand Cabs, and she listened to my story and was so shocked at the way I was treated -- organised a taxi for my girlfriend to be there in a half an hour (arrived in 20mins!).

Im still pretty annoyed at the way I was treated. Is it just the local services here, or are they all same/similar around the country?? Something needs to be done about cab services like these, its an appalling service to get!
