Cost varies. You can get a very basic one for free but youd probably have to buy a domain name (something.com or something.net and so on). Or you could spend hundreds and get a great site with no ads. To get some one to build it for you obviously costs more so your better off doing it yourself. The site I have is a free one by moonfruit.com but it has ads on it. I bought my .net name for €20.

Graba basic hosting solution with most providers and you will also geta simple site builder tool - we, for example, include SiteStudio, which lets you construct a great looking site with no html or web design know-how required.

Check out Netfirms.com they offer Netfusion as a site builder. It's easy enough to use.
Netfirms are not the cheapest out there but the service is decent.

Try hosting365.ie for the domain name and hosting. There are plenty of people on boards who would do a simple but effective website for a small fee, myself included. Would be much better and cheaper than going for a professional web design company.

Just to throw my name into the hat, I offer hosting, domain name reg and design all in one package. If you want some guidance doing it yourself or if you would like to have the site done, drop me a line..

Check out the sitepoint.com marketplace, you can find some really good freelancers there willing to design and code websites for you. The main forum areas you would be interested in are Contestsand the Sell your template areas.

I had the designs for Startpage Ireland and Advertise Ireland done there for a very reasonable price.

Far too little and poor design for €500.

Yes, it is quite basic for the money, when you consider that the design for StartPage.ie only cost me 160 euros and has a completely modular layout. I just mix and match elements to build new pages.

But, then again, this also has hosting and mail, although I would have expected a .IE domain for the price.

    Hi Claire,

This company makes kick ass websites www.cubedroute.com, for a very reasonable price. My mate had one doen with them and it's really pulled in the business!

hi sinecurea, sorry you feel that way, not to everyones taste i suppose. they did my site last week and i'm delighted with it and flyers too! winedirect2u.com

Goodness gracious, I'm in the wrong business! 500 euro for THAT?

Now, call me a paranoid old psychotic, but I find it interesting that (a) the registrant info for winedirect2u.com and abcom.ie are the same, (b) that the email address for the two sites is similar (ian@something in both cases, just like your boards username, in fact), and (c) that the writing style is similar.

Oh, and the TELEPHONE numbers are the same, for goodness sakes.

    Reported. Naughty.

you could get music lessons from someone for a fiver an hour, as you could get websites for a couple of hundred euro - but, you get what you pay for

That's our point - for €500, you'd expect a half-decent website even - that one he showed us is a piece of crap.

That seems overpriced, unless it was for more than one year's registration

In any case, he's a bit of a scam artist; see my post here or the shilling thread in feedback. I'd be very cautious of using any company who uses such blatantly dishonest marketing techniques.

that site is the worst i've seen in a while, and have you posted once without whoring your business?

    Heggie,

    Well spotted

    4 posts - 3 mentioned the website.
One post under the pretence that 'they' offer WAP design...

Looks like an effort at bumping the site up Google's rankings...
