Ad-Aware Problem

Ok, I downloaded Ad-Aware a few months ago and remove loads of junk from the computer. Ever since then though, the defenitions refuse to update. It's got to the point that they're nearly 300 days old. Any time i try to update them it tries to connect to the Lavasoft server then freezes, and i have to end the program or even process manually.

Tried re-downloading and installing again but no joy :(

Any help or an alternative appreciated (but Im having even worse problems with spybot, which wont run at all)

It seems that possibly ive some virus thats preventing these programs from running properly? Ad-Aware and Windows Defender work perfectly on this PC, it's only the Laptop that's affected.

it would seem that it is a virus as smeggle suggested. Maybe something has trojaned some of your programs. What AV do you have? start the pc up in safe mode and see if ad-aware can update itself.

Are you sure it isn't being jammed by your firewall?
