The Law, your conscience, and you

I was just wondering what everyones reasons for obeying the law was, do you obey the law wether you agree with it or not? For me I never really take the law
into account as concerns my day to day actions. I don't kill people because I believe it to be wrong, it has nothing to do with the fear of getting caught or the simple fact that it's illegal, I would say the same for drink driving or mugging someone, so what is your general consideration? Why do you obey/ignore the law of the land?

I was brought up properly - so I'm not an anti-social toerag. I suspect that's the reason most people respect the law tbh.

Remember, you got your conscience from somewhere.

I'll break the law if my conscience permits it, and I'm not in the vicinity of a Garda! My conscience is more important, but the law can throw me in jail.

I'm big into the idea of law abiding societies, so I would obey them if they exist.
Worst I would probably do is j-walking.

i wouldn't say i disregard the law but if no one gets hurt in the process i don't see any harm in breaking a law, e.g. personal drug use. i don't do it myself but i don't care if someone else wants to

My personal moral compass is more important to me than someone else's (the law).

I take it then that you can sympathise with the rioters whose own moral compass was at odds with the law?

For me, my concience and my moral compass is my guide. I will obey all the good laws that protect the innocent in society from harm and those laws that benifit society as a whole. But I disagree with "nanny" laws.

Nope, because their moral compass points in a different direction than mine.

Laws are exist to maintain the status quo between the rich and the poor the rich make the law and the poor obey them and dont feel they should question them. Criminals are those who the rich view as a threat to their power base
