Seriously... i think they should leave one of the towers standing for some urban painball... Think how much fun it would be. 2 teams.. defenders and attackers... fecking snipers on the roof, on a balcony etc... run in, kick down doors..

Anyone think thats a good idea?

They are already going to do that... I dont mean keep it forever but at least pick one and let people have at it for a few months.. the money earned could be put towards the regeneration project or local schools etc..

    I think it'd be great!!!

Like what they did to that school in America...you know the one where the kids got shot up? There was a replica of that made for paintball games...

Have the terrorists and the counter terrorists...get all the CS heads off the PC!

    No way!

I think I would have noticed something like that, what with passing it practically every day for the last 4-5 years....

See, none of us know you, hence we wouldn't have known that from your first post... and that's why your first post didn't work.

My first post wasn't meant to work Noel, it was merely stating what should be done with the area.

If you really think that one of those blocks should be left for any reason, let alone a paintball  area, while the multi-million euro developments go up around it, then I'm not sure you undertsand the point of re-developing the entire area.

On that note - while I don't agree with the paintball idea, the new Ballymun developments are turning out to be something of a shambles. Those apartment complexes (the white ones) at Santry Cross are nothing short of a joke, and are infinitely uglier than even the towers - with row after row of apartments staring at each other. And, of course, walls made of glass on the ground floor. Genius.

Yeah they are a bit dodgy alright, but down towards where most of the towers actually are is looking quite nice. The Axis centre and the new building accross from it (swimming pool etc..) look a lot better than the old huge roundabout in the middle of the tower blocks.
It's a pity that they're once again going down the over obvious prefab route with the apartments, but I guess thats whats cost effective.

The worst thing about that corner at the moment is the Martin Shortt offices. Tacky colours and everything.

After just returning from paintballing in Wexford earlier today I was just thinking that it would be excellent to play in an urban style unvironment - sounds like a bit of a laugh.
